Dr. Weldon was born and raised in Gainesville Florida and graduated from the University of Florida College of veterinary medicine in 1986.  After graduation he joined Equine Associates of Ocala where he trained under Dr. Larry Shaffer. Equine Associates was an international practice based in Ocala Florida and Perth, Western Australia. During this time Dr. Weldon worked six months in the Ocala area and six months in West Australia serving as the resident Veterinarian on a large thoroughbred breeding farm as well as the racing stables for Heytesbury Stud. In 1989 Dr. Weldon was accepted into the Internal Medicine residency

program at Cornell University in Ithaca New York. In 1992 he became board-certified in large animal internal medicine and a diplomate in the American College of veterinary internal medicine. Upon completion of the residency ,Dr. Weldon moved to Jacksonville Florida with his wife Dr. Beth Van Cleve and started Jacksonville Equine. The goal being to bring University quality diagnostic medicine to an ambulatory setting in North Florida. Dr. Weldon‘s primary interests are internal medicine, neurologic disease, gastrointestinal disease, Cardiology and Diagnostic Imaging. He has numerous publications in various veterinary journals and continues to teach through the University Of Florida‘s PBEC (Practice Based Equine Clerkship) program, where he is a courtesy professor.

When not practicing veterinary medicine or researching cases on Pub-Med, Dr. Weldon enjoys being outdoors as much as possible. He and his wife are avid world travelers, hikers,divers and explorers. Having done the Inca Trail, the ring of fire in Nicaragua,diving in the Caribbean ,climbing icy mountain passes in Patagonia and frequent trips out west to meander through slot canyons in the search of dinosaur bones and foot prints. Two true science nerds at heart. When the swells permit, and he can sneak away before his first appointment, ever the aging surfer, he can be found at a secret spot somewhere on the Jacksonville coastline catching a few waves at sunrise.
