While ambulatory veterinary care allows us to bring many services directly to your farm, there are times when a haul-in clinic provides a safer, more efficient, and better-equipped environment for your horse’s care.

Jacksonville Equine Associates offers haul-in appointments at our Green Cove Springs clinic for horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules, as well as small ruminants including goats, sheep, alpacas, and llamas.

​

Our clinic provides a clean, well-lit and controlled environment where our veterinarians can perform examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and other services without many of the challenges that can occur in a farm setting, including weather, poor lighting, dirt, uneven footing, or limited access to equipment.

Why Haul In to the Clinic?

For many appointments, bringing your horse to us can offer several advantages.

​

Our clinic gives our veterinarians convenient access to diagnostic equipment and treatment areas while providing a controlled environment for procedures and examinations. This can be especially helpful for more involved diagnostic work, lameness evaluations, emergencies, and cases requiring extended observation or treatment.

​

Haul-in appointments also eliminate the farm call fee and, depending on our schedule and your location, may allow us to accommodate your horse sooner than an ambulatory appointment.

Services Available at Our Equine Clinic

​

A wide range of veterinary services can be performed at our Green Cove Springs location, including:

• Routine & preventative care: vaccinations, Coggins testing, health certificates, wellness examinations, dental examinations and floating

• Lameness & sports medicine: lameness evaluations, diagnostic workups, pre-purchase examinations and joint injections

• Diagnostic imaging: digital radiography and ultrasonography

• Advanced diagnostics: gastroscopy and endoscopy

• Reproductive services: reproductive evaluations, ultrasound, breeding management and pregnancy examinations

• Emergency care: daytime and after-hours emergencies when appropriate

• Treatment & observation: certain patients may remain at the clinic for continued treatment or overnight care when arranged with the veterinarian

Services and availability may vary depending on the individual patient and veterinarian on duty.

Emergency Haul-In Care

Depending on your location and the nature of your horse’s emergency, our veterinarian may recommend that you haul directly to our clinic rather than waiting for a farm call.  Having the patient at the clinic can provide our veterinary team with immediate access to equipment, medications, lighting, treatment areas, and other resources that may be needed during an emergency.

Please call our office before hauling in an emergency. Calling ahead allows our team to determine whether our clinic is the appropriate destination for your horse and prepare for your arrival. Cases requiring hospitalization, surgery, intensive care, or services beyond the capabilities of our clinic may be referred to an appropriate equine hospital.

Outside Our Mobile Service Area?

​

You do not have to live within our ambulatory farm-call area to utilize our Green Cove Springs clinic.  Horse and livestock owners who live outside our regular mobile service area are welcome to schedule haul-in appointments for routine veterinary care, diagnostics, and other services offered at the clinic.

 

Emergency care may also be available at the clinic for patients outside our normal farm-call radius. Please call ahead so our team can determine availability and whether our facility is appropriate for your animal’s needs.  We know that access to equine and large-animal veterinary care can be limited in many rural communities throughout North Florida and surrounding areas. Our haul-in clinic allows us to extend many of our services to owners who may live beyond our regular ambulatory coverage area.
