Ultrasound

Our practice offers advanced diagnostic ultrasound as a critical tool for evaluating soft tissue, musculoskeletal, and internal structures with accuracy and clarity. Ultrasound provides real-time, dynamic imaging, allowing our veterinarians to assess tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, organs, and reproductive structures as they function and respond during examination. This makes it an essential modality for both diagnosis and ongoing case management.

With multiple portable ultrasound units, we are able to perform high-quality examinations in the clinic or on farm calls, bringing advanced diagnostics directly to your horse. Portable ultrasound allows for immediate evaluation of injuries or concerns without the need for transport, reducing stress while enabling prompt decision-making. Images and video clips are reviewed in real time, allowing our veterinarians to correlate findings directly with clinical signs and develop targeted treatment plans.

Ultrasound excels in the diagnosis and monitoring of soft tissue injuries, including tendon and ligament strains, muscle tears, joint effusion, and tendon sheath or bursal abnormalities. It also plays a vital role in guided procedures, such as joint injections, tendon sheath treatments, and cyst aspirations, improving accuracy and safety while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissues. Serial ultrasound examinations allow us to objectively monitor healing, guide rehabilitation timelines, and determine safe return-to-work decisions.

In addition to musculoskeletal applications, ultrasound is a key diagnostic tool for abdominal, thoracic, and reproductive evaluations. It allows visualization of internal organs, detection of fluid, inflammation, or masses, and precise reproductive assessment including pregnancy diagnosis, ovarian activity, uterine health, and breeding management.

Ultrasound is a non-invasive, radiation-free imaging modality, making it safe for repeated use when monitoring injury progression or reproductive cycles. To provide clarity and value, we offer structured ultrasound packages designed for common needs such as lameness and soft tissue injury evaluation, reproductive examinations, guided procedures, and follow-up monitoring. These packages are tailored to deliver thorough diagnostics while keeping care efficient and transparent.
