Alexandria Bridges DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Alexandria “Alex” Bridges, DVM was raised in Northeast Florida, where horses were an important part of her life from an early age. She grew up riding on the beach and competing in a variety of equestrian disciplines, experiences that ultimately helped shape her path toward a career in equine veterinary medicine.

Dr. Bridges studied microbiology at the University of Florida before moving to Texas to attend Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2019.

Following graduation, she completed an equine medicine and surgery internship at Pine Ridge Equine Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, gaining extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of both routine and complex equine cases. After several years in practice, Dr. Bridges chose to further pursue her interest in emergency medicine and completed a residency in Large Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center in Penryn, California.

Her professional interests include equine emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, and wound repair and management. Her advanced emergency training brings valuable experience to Jacksonville Equine Associates, particularly when managing urgent, complicated, and critically ill patients.

Dr. Bridges is also passionate about veterinary education and enjoys teaching and mentoring future veterinarians, with an emphasis on developing strong clinical skills, good habits, and a solid work ethic.

Returning to Northeast Florida brings Dr. Bridges back to the community where her own equestrian journey began. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Bash, and her horses, Taj and Orion. She is also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys getting out on the road whenever her schedule allows.
